Wedding in the Lake District, UK
As an occasional wedding photographer I am generally drawn to more alternative and unique styles of ceremony. When Pete and Sarah approached me and explained they were hoping to have their wedding ceremony in an old cow shed in the Lake District I was intrigued. After learning more about the location and their unique vision I knew I had to accept this shoot.
Set on the shores of Ullswater, in the Lake District, on the site of an old bobbin mill, the location was far from the classic wedding venue and was all the more beautiful for this. It comprised of a selection of sprawling old buildings and cottages, with the sound of the river rushing past to accompany the bird song. Despite the tumble-down yard and overwhelming feel of a farm-yard, it was a hidden oasis at the end of a long and bumpy track.
On the day of the wedding the venue was barely recognisable from the previous visits. Fairy lights adorned the wooden beams of the cow shed, hay bales provided rustic seating and, contrary to more usual Cumbrian weather the sun shone from a cloudless blue sky. The wedding was an incredibly beautiful and authentic affair, children’s laughter, the barking of dogs and happy excitable chatter filled the atmosphere. I was truly lucky to document such a perfect day and wish all love and happiness for Pete and Sarah.
